Fine print shows hidden 6.4 per cent rate increase in 2020
HALIFAX, NS – Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie says Nova Scotia Power’s rate increases make a mockery of Premier McNeil’s electricity promises.
Today, Nova Scotia Power released its power rate plan. It would see power rates for residential customers increase on average 1.4 per cent in 2017, 2018, and 2019. If you read the fine print, it shows a 6.4 per cent rate increase in 2020.
“Stephen McNeil must come clean about what the real plan is for power rates in this province. His election promises ring hallow for the people who will now pay even more for power,” said Baillie “We need a Premier we can trust. If the Premier is scheming with Nova Scotia Power to delay a major rate increase until well after the next election, Nova Scotians deserve to know that.”
