Baillie says Mattie’s entrepreneurial experience a great asset
ANTIGONISH, NS – Ray Mattie has been acclaimed the PC candidate for Antigonish.
Mattie, a musician and entrepreneur, says his roots in small town Nova Scotia means he understands what it takes for local communities to thrive. He was drawn to Jamie Baillie and the Progressive Conservatives after seeing how Premier Stephen McNeil is hurting rural areas of the province.
“Stephen McNeil’s government continues to make cuts to rural services and Nova Scotians are suffering for that,” Mattie said. “Jamie understands that the revitalization of rural areas is key to the success of the province as a whole. I am eager to be a part of the PC team and to help restore good governance to Nova Scotia.”
Baillie says Mattie’s entrepreneurial experience will serve him well as an MLA for Antigonish and the surrounding rural areas.
“Ray’s professional life is that of an arts entrepreneur, employer and a strong ambassador for Nova Scotia. He has created many direct and indirect jobs and has contributed directly to the economic viability of the Nova Scotia arts community,” Baillie said. “It’s this wealth of experience Ray will bring with him to the Legislature as he represents his constituents.”
Ray has done charity work for the IWK, Children’s Wish Foundation, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, a Fort McMurray Fire Benefit in Edmonton and for the Tracadie Parish Hall renovation project. He has also volunteered as a children’s entertainer at daycare centres and elementary schools
Ray and his wife Brenda are from Monastery and have two daughters, Alyssa & Emma.
