January 1st marks the beginning of a new year and a time to reflect on all the accomplishments and lessons learned in 2013, while focusing on the opportunities of the future.
Personally, I am very thankful for the loving support of my wife, Sandra, and our girls. I can’t even begin to properly thank them for all that they do. I also want to thank all of you, and your own families for coming on this important journey with us. 2013 was a busy year, and we have a lot to be proud of.
The voters of Nova Scotia gave us all a promotion this year…to Official Opposition. Together, we will take up this new job with vigor and enthusiasm. Some say this new role is all about criticizing, but that is not our style. We have a plan of our own to turn this province around and we will continue to promote our own positive ideas at every opportunity.
In fact, New Year’s Day is a good time to start. Today, let’s remind ourselves that despite all the challenges our province faces, it is still a great place to live and work. The problems we face are not insurmountable. The good news is that the power to make Nova Scotia better, in all these areas, lies in are own hands, if we just summon the will to tackle them.
As the PC family begins 2014 together, let us dedicate ourselves to that great effort.
I am looking forward to 2014. We’ll be moving into our new Official Opposition office mid January and I am excited to get back out on the road to hear from you about your priorities.
There are a few dates to watch early in the New Year.
Join me at the Joan Harris Cruise Pavilion in Sydney on January 10th for the Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon. It starts at noon and tickets are available by contacting Carol Langille at carol@sydneyareachamber.ca or 902-564-6453.
I will also be speaking at a luncheon at the Halifax Club on January 15. You can get tickets by visiting their website www.halifaxclub.ca or calling (902) 423-8460 ext. 3.
Don’t miss the PC AGM 2014. It’s February 7th to 9th in Halifax at the Westin Nova Scotia. The committee chairs tell me it will be bigger and better than ever. You can register online now at www.pcparty.ns.ca
I hope to see you there.
There are many other events planned around the province in January and February. Keep an eye on In Touch for all the details.
Thank you for your continued support.
From my family to yours, I want to wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year. May the happiest moments of the season remain with you all the time.
Yours truly,
Jamie Baillie
Cumberland South MLA
