HALIFAX, NS – Hundreds of Progressive Conservatives will gather for the Party’s Annual General Meeting in Halifax on February 7th-9th to celebrate election gains and start planning for 2017.
Party President Janet Fryday Dorey says the Party’s focus is to help families who are working harder but taking home less.
“The PC AGM is an exciting opportunity for our membership to have fun and share solutions to get Nova Scotia and the economy back on track,” says Fryday Dorey. “It’s one of the biggest and best political conventions in the country. Anyone is welcome to sign up and help us build for 2017.”
PC leader Jamie Baillie says he’s excited for the opportunity to thank all those who poured their heart and soul into the election campaign.
“Our Party has the most loyal and hard-working supporters,” says Baillie. “I am so thankful for everything they have done to help us overcome the headwind and form the Official Opposition.”
Baillie says the AGM will be an opportunity to talk with members about changes he’d like to see to how Nova Scotia is governed.
“The cost of doing nothing is way too high,” says Baillie. “Too many people are struggling to pay the highest taxes and power rates in the country. Too many people want to retire but can’t. Too many people want to raise their family here but are forced to move away to find a job.”
The first 100 days of Stephen McNeil’s Liberal government have been riddled with inaction and patronage appointments. Baillie says we need to end wasteful spending now, stop the growth in debt and get on with meaningful tax relief.
Baillie has asked for a leadership review vote to take place at this AGM and says he is looking forward to Party members having their say. Voting will take place during the weekend, with the results announced on Saturday afternoon.
The AGM will by held at the Westin Nova Scotian and kick-off with Baillie’s keynote address on Friday night. On Saturday, there is a luncheon scheduled with the Honourable Tony Clement and the Honourable Peter MacKay. Baillie will conclude the weekend with a Leader’s question and answer session on Sunday. Nova Scotians can register at www.pcparty.ns.ca.
