Smith-McCrossin will play a big role in the next Progressive Conservative government says Jamie Baillie

AMHERST, NS – Local businesswoman and healthcare professional Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin will be the Progressive Conservative Party’s candidate in Cumberland North in the next provincial election.

Smith-McCrossin was officially acclaimed the party’s standard bearer in the constituency on Wednesday, May 25.

“Improving the economy of Northern Nova Scotia so we can pay for strong social services in areas like healthcare and education will be my top priority. I will put my own experiences in business and in health care to work to help make the Progressive Conservative vision for Nova Scotia a reality in Cumberland North,” said Smith-McCrossin. “I look forward to bringing our positive message to the people here and working with them to achieve great things.”

Smith-McCrossin says the McNeil government is not making the right decisions to support the people of Cumberland North.

“We have major gaps in our healthcare system with mental health issues being neglected and too many doctors leaving the province,” said Smith-McCrossin. “We need a strong economy so we can direct resources into making the system work for everyone and we need a leader who knows how to make it happen. Jamie Baillie and the Progressive Conservatives have a vision and a long-term plan for Nova Scotia that will make our province strong.”

Baillie says he’s excited about Smith-McCrossin’s candidacy and envisions her playing a big role in the Progressive Conservative Caucus.

“Elizabeth has been a success in business, but is equally impressive as a healthcare professional,” said Baillie. “She’s just the kind of person we need to help turn Nova Scotia around. She will play a big role in the next Progressive Conservative government.”

The Cumberland North Progressive Conservative Association will hold an official nomination meeting which will be scheduled to celebrate Smith-McCrossin’s candidacy in the coming weeks.
