Today, Nova Scotians and all Canadians gather to honour the generations of men and women who answered the call to defend our nation and to remember those who gave their lives in the line of service.
The incredible efforts, courage and devotion of our service men and women have given us the freedom and peace we enjoy and the democracy that governs our nation.
The horror and senselessness of the recent tragic attacks on our soldiers in Quebec and Ottawa have caused Canadians to reflect on the value of our soldiers and the sacrifices they make at home and afar.
Nova Scotians have always answered the call to defend our nation. The contribution from our service members and their families have helped to promote and protect the universal values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law that we hold so dear.
Please proudly wear a poppy in respect for all our brave veterans and take the time to thank them for their selfless devotion. I encourage everyone to show your appreciation by attending a Remembrance Day service in your community or observing two minutes of silence at 11:00 am.
We must never forget those who fought for our freedom and who stand on guard for us today.
Lest we forget.
Hon. Jamie Baillie, Leader, PC Party of Nova Scotia
